Do not think that you will have an unlimited amount of space even though, what you do have should really be sufficient for the requirements of your website.

You get nothing in this world for free so if you are promised a free domain name it usually means that if you wish to continue using that particular domain name, you will have to stick with the company who provided it. However if you want to change your web hosting company, you will soon realise that this domain name does not come free and how much it is actually going to cost you to take it with you. It will probably be really expensive to buy this domain name from the web hosting company and you will either have to pay this amount or just remain with the web hosting company - that doesn’t sound free to me.

What this usually means is selling the soul of your website to advertisers. Nobody is going to provide you with free web hosting out of the goodness of their hearts. If they don’t charge you they will make money by sticking lots of advertisements on your site. And the fact that you do not get any say in the advertisements means that you could end up with adverts for porn on your website which could be very embarrassing especially if your site is purely a place for you to store your family photos.
